Her work explores the ecological, cultural, and economic connections that shape our material realities. She’s interested in imagining and building alternative futures. Teju is the Founder and Ecosystems Director of Black Fiber & Textile Network (bftn). She was a 2025 Center for Craft Archive Fellow, and was named a 2022 Conscious Fashion Campaign Honoree by the Fashion Impact Fund in collaboration with the United Nations Partnership Office. Through her work, Teju has distributed approximately $400,000 in grants to Black artists, environmental entrepreneurs, and textile businesses. She has collaborated with institutions like the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt and the United States Embassy in Botswana, as well as spoken at several academic institutions including: Rhode Island School of Design, the University of Iceland, and Princeton University.
